The U.S. Constitution

Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press,

Ratified 12/15/1791.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

It appears to me that in prohibiting prayer and public display of religious items, the government is actually breaking this Amendment to the Constitution. Modern jurist are interpreting this Amendment as anti-religion. BUT...I read it as protecting religion from intrusion by the federal and other governments.

Mr. Green at City Hall - San Antonio TX

San Antonio, Texas has a Progressive minded mayor that wants everything "green" for his city. He pushes for "green" jobs and industry, while forgetting or ignoring the fact that Spain tried to invest in "green" jobs and lost big time. He plods along with his wide grin postulating the Obama Administration's credo. Not much of a leader..always following the BO's every word!

There are issues in S.A. that require more attention, such as streets and drainage. On the south side of town, Goliad Road has been under construction for at least a year and still no end in sight. When it rains, the street becomes a veritable Red River! Such is the case in other parts of town, yet the mayor loves to push for hike and bike trails as as well as parks with soccer fields galore. His whole theme reminds me of Marie Antoinette...let the citizens eat cake and be merry or why worry be happy!

Citizens of San Antonio, think about it...or just be happy!!

Major teachers union endorses Obama's re-election OR Pay Back Time

The nation's largest education union has endorsed President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign.

Members of the National Education Association voted to support Obama on Monday at their annual convention in Chicago.

In a statement, NEA President Dennis Van Roekel says Obama and the union share a vision and members wanted early and strong support to help his election.
The endorsement comes a day after Vice President Joe Biden addressed thousands of educators at the convention. The association has 3.2 million members and bills itself as the largest labor union nationwide.

Biden's speech largely praised teachers and he took jabs at Republicans, saying they don't share the same views on public education.

But Biden drew applause when he briefly acknowledged there's widespread unhappiness among teachers for the Obama administration's education policies.

Vets Say 1st Amendment Violated by Feds...No to GOD

Veterans in Houston say the Department of Veterans Affairs is consistently censoring their prayers by banning them from saying the words "God" and "Jesus" during funeral services at Houston National Cemetery.

Three organizations -- the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion and the National Memorial Ladies -- allege that the cemetery's director and other government officials have created "religious hostility" at the cemetery and are violating the First Amendment. According to court documents filed this week in federal court, the cemetery's director, Arleen Ocasio, has banned saying "God" at funerals and requires prayers be submitted in advance for government approval, MyFoxHouston.com reports.
