I want to show you some of the more interesting happenings in Barack Obama's working life and brief political life. This timeline shows how Obama likes to pay those who support him and his causes. It also shows his relationship with questionable radicals. Please read on:
- June 1985 - Obama is hired as a community organizer in Chicago
- April 10, 1989 - Convicted land speculator and slum lord Tony Rezko applies for his first subsidized housing loan in Chicago
- April-October 1992 - Obama runs "Project Vote" in Chicago for ACORN
- 1993 - Obama joins Board of Directors of the Woods Fund eventually serving next to William "Bill" Ayers (1960s radical and bomber)
- July 28, 1993 - Obama buys condo in Hyde-Park
- July 31, 1995 - Tony Rezko makes his first political donation to Obama
- January 2,1996 - Obama begins process of throwing all of his state Senate opponents off the ballot
- March 19, 1996 - Obama wins Democratic state Senate primary (unopposed)
- January 14, 1997 - Tony Rezko writes a $1,000 check to Obama's campaign even though he claims he doesn't have funds to turn on heat in one of his slums
- February 1997 - Obama co-sponsors a bill that creates affordable local housing funds in order to subsidize private developers like Tony Rezko
- November 20, 1997 - Obama and Bill Ayers appear on an academic panel relating to juvenile justice (later Obama claims to know Ayers just "casually")
- May 13, 1998 - Obama sponsors and speaks on a bill to facilitate privately built and government subsidized low-income housing
- October 28, 1998 - Obama writes to state and city officials asking them to give Tony Rezko and his partner Allison Davis $14.6 million for a low-income housing project just outside his Senate district
- Sept 1999 - Obama announces run for U.S. Congress (radical Catholic priest Father Michael Pfleger a supporter)
- March 200 - Obama loses Democratic primary for U.S. Congress
- January 2001 - Obama announces large state grants for Father Pfleger's ministry
- August 2001 - Obama co-sponsors a bill giving special tax credits to donors to private developers of "affordable housing" (like Tony Rezko)
- April 20, 2002 - Obama appears with Bill Ayers on a panel discussion on "Intellectuals in Times of Crisis"
- April 11, 2003 - Obama adds his name as co-sponsor of the Illinois Housing Initiative Act which would subsidize and create demand for private low-income housing
- May 21, 2003 - Obama votes for the Affordable Housing Initiative Act (the bill also lets developers circumvent local ordinances)
- August 14, 2003 - Tony Rezko and Stuart Levine steer $50 million in teachers' retirement money to an investment firm and get a $250,000 kickback from the "finder"
- November 2, 2004 - Obama elected to U.S. Senate
- June 15, 2005 - Obama and Tony Rezko close a deal on adjacent properties in Hyde Park
- September 2005 - Tony Rezko subpoenaed in Teachers Retirement System pension investigation
- January 2006 - Obama purchases part of neighbor Tony Rezko's lot
- October 2006 - Tony Rezko indicted on 24 counts
- January 2007 - Obama endorses Chicago mayor Richard Daley
- February 2007 - Daley re-elected
- June 2008 - Tony Rezko convicted on 16 felony corruption charges
