Common Core Needs to Go Back to Basics

I find it hard to believe how many steps modern kids have to go through to solve a simple math problem! You'd think the kids had to write some Einstein and Newton equation to solve such simple arithmetic (old school term) questions.

Our school systems want kids to think about why the answer is what it is when doing math. How about 1 plus 1 equals 2 because it does! Mathematics is finite and by that I mean there is a right and a wrong answer...nothing in between!

If teachers want kids to question an answer, teach them the difference between right and wrong in life. Let them think about how they would answer life's issues. And then have them explain their answer!
