Yom HaZikaron: Israel's Memorial Day

Each May we in the United States take time to honor those who have died in defense of our country. We stop to pay homage to those in the military in particular and to the many who have sacrificed their lives for our nation in the past.
 
Israel has such a day. On Yom HaZikaron, the Jewish people in Israel remember those who fought to establish their homeland and those who died in its continuing struggle to exist.
