Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, a Wisconsin Republican, and the original author of the Patriot Act responded to the disclosure that the Obama Administration wants our phone records. The administration not only asked Verizon but also Sprint and AT&T to disclose phone records for their customers.
Sensenbrenner said: "While I believe the Patriot Act appropriately balanced national security concerns and civil rights, I have always worried about potential abuses. Seizing phone records of millions of innocent people is excessive and un-American."
One response from the Left came from Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid who said, "Everyone should just calm down." Barack Obama also defended his actions by saying that Congress had repeatedly approved renewal of this procedure. The problem is how his administration has executed the law. Big Brother makes his own rules on how to manipulate the law!
