New World Pope: Francis I

The College of Cardinals made history today when it selected the first Pontiff from the "New World" to lead the Catholic Church. The Spanish, the Portuguese, and other European countries explored the Americas. They made the conquered lands an extension of the European way of life. The Europeans exploited the land and in turn, they exploited many of our descendants.

This has all changed. We are our own peoples. We make our own history. The Americas have come to age! Now we have an Argentine Pope to hail our Americas!
