Texas Says YES to “Merry Christmas” & “Happy Hanukkah”

Texas State Representative Dwayne Bohac moved a bill through the state's legislature that would...
  • allow holiday-tinged greetings without fear of lawsuits or reprisals
  • legalize the display of religious imagery associated with traditional winter celebrations such as nativity scenes, Christmas trees and menorahs.
  • educate students about the history behind traditional winter celebrations
  • allow holiday displays on school grounds

The bill passed both votes of the state’s legislature. In the House, the vote went 145-2. In the Senate the bill passed 29-0. It now awaits Gov. Rick Perry’s signature.
