Pigford v. Glickman filed in 1997 was a class action lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The lawsuit alleged racial discrimination by the USDA in the allocation of farm loans and assistance between 1983 and 1997. The original Pigford suit was filed in behalf of black farmers.
The lawsuit ended with a settlement on 1999 by Judge Paul Friedman of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Over $1 billion has been paid or credited to more than 13,300 farmers under the settlement to date.
So, when will this type of freeloading end? Maybe never. Obama has awarded billions and it may not end there.
